Calibration

All CAAP teachers have the opportunity to take part in calibration sessions at their school or at The Ohio State University. During these sessions many teachers assign a grade to authentic writing and speaking samples based on a holistic rubric. Once each teacher has assigned a grade, all teachers assess the grades as a group, explaining what their expectations were for a student at that level. Please contact the CAAP team at caap@osu.edu to schedule a calibration session for your group.

The Ohio Department of Education provides holistic rubrics for Novice Mid through Advanced Low proficiency levels. Rubrics are available for Interpretive listening, reading and viewing; Interpersonal speaking, writing and signing; and Presentational speaking, writing and signing. We have also created the following rubric with proficiency levels to use as a tool when interpreting scores. This may help teachers with pre- and post- assessments and the HQSD processes
