Frequently Asked Questions

How can I sign up for CAAP?

Please reach out to caap@osu.edu to share your interest in joining CAAP, and we will schedule an informational session with you.

Is CAAP free?

YES!

I did not receive an email from CAAP for my Log-in or my students' log-in, what do I do?

First, please check your spam folder! If your students are also not receiving the emails, have them check their spam folders as well. Save caap@osu.edu as a contact to avoid this from happening in the future. If you still do not receive emails, please reach out to your IT team at your school to make sure the firewall is not blocking emails from caap@osu.edu. This is oftentimes the cause and can easily be fixed. You can contact caap@osu.edu to have your teacher account re-uploaded so the emails will be resent.

How do I sign up for Spring Testing?

By including “SP 202X” (i.e. SP 2023) in your class name, this will indicate to us that you plan on testing in the Spring. You can also reach out to caap@osu.edu to notify us that you will test in the spring.

How do I add students?

On the Top Right menu bar select “My Info”. Then choose “Add New Class”. Enter your student names and emails individually or by adding a CSV file. After you enter your students’ email addresses, they will receive an automatic email message to set their password, and then they are all set to log in under “User Login” on the right of the main CAAP screen.

Can I take a test as a teacher?

Teachers can only VIEW the tests. We recommend you create a student log-in for yourself as well so that you can TAKE a test. You can do this by creating another "student" with a personal email (like Google). This way, you can also log-in as a student, see their view, and take the practice exams.

Do I have to take the Spring Exams?

No! You are welcome to just use the practice exams for your classroom.

I do not teach in Ohio, can I participate in the Spring Exams?

As of now, out-of-state students can only use the practice exams and cannot participate in Spring, high-stakes testing.

When can I expect the OSU graded and calibrated results from the Spring Exam?

Results letters are sent out on October 1 following the exams.

What level is CAAP?

CAAP is designed for the end of the third year. Students that score highly on CAAP tests (8-9/10 on each skill) are at the ACTFL Intermediate-Mid level of proficiency. You can still use the practice tests for other levels as well.
